Immunisation

 

As children and young people start, or move between, schools they mix with new peer groups which can increase transmission of infectious diseases.

One of the most important defences against illness is Infection Prevention and Control,  we have all learnt a lot more about this during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The World Health Organization (WHO) says:

“The 2 public health interventions that have had the greatest impact on the world’s health are clean water and vaccines.”

To help understand which vaccine is due when the NHS has a page to help: NHS vaccinations and when to have them - NHS (www.nhs.uk)

This page also provides in depth information about each vaccine and access to patient leaflets.

Information varies by vaccine, but may include:

  • Who should have it
  • Safety of the vaccine
  • Side effects
  • Effectiveness
  • How the vaccine works

Immunisation resources

Immunisation or vaccination is a safe way to protect your students health and key to keeping your school healthy.

The UKHSA has updated their resources to support vaccinations.

The assets available include posters, leaflets and social media graphics which could also be used in your newsletters.
