Alcohol awareness week 16-22nd November

Alcohol Awareness Week 2020 is from the 16-22 November.
The week provides an opportunity for schools to focus on alcohol education.
The Alcohol Education Trust (AET) provide resources for secondary schools including:
'Just a Few Drinks' film clips
BAFTA-winning 'Just a Few Drinks' film clips have now been updated to include the very latest statistics and information. These are a great conversation starter and perfect for use in alcohol education lessons, tutor time and to ask pupils to watch for homework. You can access these here
AET website
www.alcoholeducationtrust.org features a wealth of resources organised by topic and year group. You can find visual-rich resources, worksheets and activities for engaging and enjoyable lessons.
Talk About Alcohol
the pupil-facing online interactive learning zone www.talkaboutalcohol.com is packed with fun games and activities for young people and teaches them to think about how to keep safe around alcohol in a really fun way. They can play 'The Chimp Shop' game and visit our online nightclub in 'Brave the Rave'. The site includes different zone including the Challenge one, Fact Zone and Body Zone. This site is ideal for pupils to play during tutor time or at home. You can also upload examples of interesting projects your school has done!
Hard copies of resources
The AET are able to provide the following hard copies of resources free of charge to UK schools. Please just email kate@alcoholeducationtrust.org to order yours!
- Teacher Workbook: 100 pages of lesson plans, games and activities organised by topic and year group. You can download a copy here.
- Up to 110 copies of our parent guide 'Talking to Kids' which includes advice and guidance on keeping young people safe around alcohol. You can download a copy here.
- Up to 110 copies of our student guide 'Alcohol and You' which includes top tips for young people on keeping themselves and their friends safe. You can download a copy here.
Please contact the AET if you work with a high number of pupils who have special needs or are looked after as they have grant funding to provide an activity box (usually £60) free of charge to these settings. The box includes a range of laminated activity cards and our 'Just a few Drinks' DVD.
