Closing the gap by enhancing the wellbeing of vulnerable learners

Wednesday 10th December 2014

A new course for primary and secondary school teachers is now open for booking on http://www.wiltscpd.co.uk

The course, on Monday 16th March 2015, will be facilitated by members of Jan Lever Consultancy and Training.

The course is free to attend for Wiltshire LA schools and Wiltshire Academies.

Research evidence shows that promoting the health and wellbeing of pupils and students within schools and colleges has the potential to improve their educational outcomes and their health and wellbeing outcomes.

This course will focus on effective actions that schools can take to improve attainment by improving the wellbeing of pupils, particularly the most vulnerable.

This approach will be informed by the evidence highlighted in the Public Health England document: “The link between pupil health and wellbeing and attainment” (November 2014), recently sent to all Headteachers in England.

This course will enable participants to:

  • Understand the causes of vulnerability to better plan effective interventions
  • Consider the use of mindfulness in PSHE to increase resilience and concentration
  • Develop skills and confidence in using a solution-focused approach to improve wellbeing
