DfE grant to support character development
Wednesday 4th February 2015
Some Wiltshire Healthy Schools have delivered interventions that aim to build skills, attitudes and behaviours as a route to improving engagement and attainment at school, such as Philosophy for Children or Changing Mindsets among others. There is currently national funding that schools can apply for to help inform research about what works in the school setting.
The Character and Education grants round will fund and evaluate a series of projects that aim to develop a set of attitudes, skills and behaviours that are thought to underpin success in school and work, such as motivation, grit, resilience, self-control, self-confidence, social and emotional skills, and communication skills.
The Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) seeks proposals from schools, local authorities, charities, universities and other non-profit organisations that want to test ways of developing such attributes.
The DfE have made £1 million available to the Education Endowment Fund (EEF) to build evidence and expand research into the most effective ways that character can be developed in young people.
Applicants will be able to apply until 1 April 2015
