Eating Disorder Toolkit

Wednesday 9th November 2022

This resource is available from the School and Public Health Nurses Association (SAPHNA)

The toolkit has been co-produced with school nursing services, mental health activist/campaigner Hope Virgo, eating disorder experts, education colleagues and an expert advisory board of experts by experience including young people, carers, siblings, and friends. It is underpinned by their intelligence alongside evidence, research, and best practice.

Who is for?

This toolkit is intended for use by Registered Nurses/ Midwives and Specialist Community Public Health Nurses. Those providing support to children and young people who may be experiencing an eating disorder must ensure that they have an adequate level of training and understanding prior to doing so.

Nurses will require access to clinical and safeguarding supervision to ensure that they are well supported when delivering any kind of intervention and to reflect upon whether they are working within their level of skill and competence.

However, it is recognised that some of the information in this toolkit may also be of use to schools, parents / carers and other professionals.

This toolkit is offered free of charge. To access, please complete and submit the request form here.
