Children love to learn through outdoors play and exploration - but in the hot summer months it’s important to protect their skin from the sun’s rays. By helping young people aged 5-11 to understand the importance of sun safety, Boots Soltan Sun Ready helps teachers and parents to encourage healthy sun safety habits that last a lifetime.
Boots Soltan Sun Ready resources include lesson plans, teachers’ guides, student-facing videos and homework activities. Lesson plans are adaptable across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 for classes in Science, PSHE, English and Geography. With a fun, creative and engaging approach, the materials are easy to fit into lesson plans and activities include drama role plays, science experiments and writing tasks.
Last year nearly 3,000 teachers registered with the programme, with 1,000 prize packs distributed to schools and 4,000 resource downloads by teachers around the country.

Take on the Sun Ready Challenge by using our free whole-school activities to teach your pupils about the importance of sun safety.
These fun, flexible activity ideas will help your pupils enjoy the outdoors safely. Including ideas for Sports Days, Summer Fairs, whole-school assemblies, a pupil-led campaign and an end of year celebration event, the Sun Ready Challenge is a perfect way to introduce, develop and consolidate sun safety learning.

Coming to the App Store and Google Play on Tuesday 6th June, the brand-new Soltan Sun Ready Challenge app is a fun and active way to learn about sun safety.
Using augmented reality characters, video and interactive challenges, the app makes learning about sun safety fun and memorable for your pupils. Pupils complete a series of five challenges, including wacky selfies, puzzles and games, all while learning how to stay safe in the sun.
This, free, innovative and engaging tool highlights the importance of sun safety, consolidates pupils’ learning and brings the topic to life, while also encouraging outdoors activity and a spirit of exploration.
