Here are some of the free resources available from Food a Fact of Life

Roadmaps for food education

Are you looking to plan, review or enhance your class or whole school food curriculum this academic year?  Take a look at the free Food – a fact of life Roadmaps!  The Roadmaps provide a visual journey of what pupils from age 3 to 16 years need to know about healthy eating, cooking and where food comes from. They can be printed for your planning file, or displayed in your classroom or school to show your pupils their food learning journey.  There are also interactive versions of the Roadmaps, which allow you to click straight through to ready-to-use lesson plans and resources to support your food teaching.

FREE food and nutrition professional development programme for primary schools

The Teaching Primary Food and Nutrition (TPFN) professional development programme is designed to support high quality food and nutrition teaching in UK primary schools.

How does it work?

  1. Primary school teachers, trainees and teaching assistants are invited to register, and complete a short audit of their competence and confidence around food and nutrition teaching.
  2. The first 1,500 registrants will then receive a free professional portfolio (binder and booklet) to help them plan, implement and evidence their learning journey.
  3. Regular updates about free online webinars and workshops will be sent to registrants to help them fulfil their profession development plans.

The TPFN programme is the perfect way to access flexible and cost-free CPD around food and nutrition teaching.  Register now or watch a short introductory video to learn more!

FREE nutritional analysis tool - Explore Food

Explore Food is free nutritional analysis tool that can be used to analyse recipes, or to work out the nutritional content of a daily diet.  Pupils can analyse the recipes that they make in the classroom or at home, to understand more about the nutritional content of their food and the impact of portion size.
