Hate Crime Awareness week is from 13-20th October 2018. National Hate Crime Awareness Week 2018
The national theme this year is H.O.P.E. This stands for;
Hate Crime Awareness- running awareness events to increase public knowledge
Operational response – encouraging people to think about how they would respond if a hate crime happened to someone they know
Prevention – preventing hate crime where possible
Empowering communities –to report hate crime and work together
The PCC and Head of Crime Standards and Justice will be launching a competition for school children on Monday 15th October.
We will be asking schools to consider how they can promote a message of ‘HOPE’ – think about how to value difference, be inclusive, promote kindness and the impact of our actions on others.
Primary Schools – Design a poster with the H.O.P.E slogan
Secondary Schools – A video log no longer that 60 seconds containing the H.O.P.E slogan
Closing date: Friday 16th November
Judging: Week commencing 19th November
Presentations: Week commencing 26th November
There will be prizes awarded
• Key Stage 1 - £100 voucher for the school and a £20 book voucher for the winner plus a runners up prize of a £10 book voucher
• Key stage 2 - £100 voucher for the school and a £20 book voucher for the winner plus a runners up prize of a £10 book voucher
• Secondary schools - £100 voucher for the school with the winning VLOG and a £20 book voucher for the winner plus a runners up prize of a £10 book
