Lessons4Life invitation to secondary schools - participate in personal development assessment
Monday 16th September 2024
Lessons4Life invites secondary schools to participate in personal development assessment to support pupil transition.
What are we trying to achieve?
- To better prepare children for their transition to secondary school
- To encourage a personal development premium like the sports premium for primary schools
- To close the gaps for personal development to reach better outcomes for children
How?
-
Highlighting the gaps
As a part of the campaign, Lessons4Life are providing complementary access to a personal development quiz for YEAR 7 pupils in secondary schools to showcase the gaps on arrival. Secondary schools will also receive full access to a parent/carer well-being barometer to gather community concerns.
-
Influencing policy
The team at Lessons4life, are producing a white paper which will be presented later this year.
What do secondary schools need to do?
- Complete the 30 second form to gain access to your school dashboard
- Provide 2 x 25-minute sessions for year 7 pupils to the complete Personal Development Quiz
- Invite parents/carers to take part in the wellbeing barometer online survey www.lessons4life.org
- Analyse your pupil data to inform future PSHE lessons
From sign-up to completion takes schools no more than 1hr of their time. They have until half-term to complete.
Why should secondary schools get involved?
The anonymous data will be used to support the white paper, however secondary schools will benefit from their involvement by:
- Identifying Knowledge Gaps
Ensure that their year 7 pupils start the new academic year with a clear understanding of key personal development areas by identifying and addressing gaps in their knowledge.
- Receiving Data-Driven Insights
Data will support teaching approaches and pupils’ growth from the start. This data can be used to bridge the gap by grouping result such as PP, SEN and EAL.
