Free peer mentoring programme training and resources for Wiltshire primary schools
Tuesday 30th March 2021
Kidscape peer mentoring programme focusses on supporting pupils emotional health and wellbeing.
As part of the recent overwhelming response to our programme, schools have shown concern about wanting to support children returning to school post lockdown. Young people, listening to other young people, will provide an additional layer of protection and greater support.
Wiltshire Council are delighted to be working with Kidscape to support schools implement a supportive peer mentoring programme.
ENDS JULY 2021
Our Peer Mentoring programmes are based on young people supporting each other; matching peer mentors with mentees in one-on-one partnerships so that they can provide guidance and support, serving as positive role models.
Our programme enables Peer Mentors to listen and support fellow pupils (mentees); helping them deal with the current challenges they may be struggling with at the moment.
Upcoming dates of virtual delivery are:
- Thursday 8th April 2021 - last few spaces
- Thursday 6th May 2021
- Thursday 10th June 2021
- Thursday 1st July 2021

“Peer support has never been needed more than it is now. Peer Mentoring programmes post lockdown are an opportunity for young people to support their peers, using their own emotions, their own lived experience, their own unique understanding to relate to each other and provide positive guidance. Children and young people need to feel supported and safe in an environment that is ever changing and very different to the one they were familiar with.” Sarah Lewis, Kidscape.
With the appropriate training, guidance and supervision the peer mentors role is to listen and support fellow pupils (mentees); helping them deal with the challenges they face that they may be struggling with.
Kidscape developed the Peer Mentoring Programme that has successfully been running since it was introduced to secondary schools in Wiltshire in 2016.
