Thursday 14th December 2017

Help test new Power Up and Power Up+ wellbeing apps

The Evidence Based Practice Unit are looking for secondary schools and colleges and special educational needs schools and colleges to be part of a project to help test two versions of a new wellbeing and self-management app, Power Up and Power Up+.

What will be involved?

  • Researchers will carry out questionnaires with the young people or teachers, learning support assistants and care-givers of participating young people.
  • Schools will be randomised to use the app or not for 12 weeks. After 12 weeks, questionnaires will be carried out again.
  • Those that are randomised not to receive the app will be given the chance to have it after the study for free.

What are the benefits?

  • Opportunity for schools and students to be part of testing an app around wellbeing, empowerment and self-management.
  • Encouragement to develop confidence in communicating about mental health needs.
