Restorative Practice in Schools
Monday 20th September 2021
Thursday 11th November 2021. 4-5pm (online no recording)
Free session for primary and secondary school staff.
Restorative Practice is a philosophy, a way of being that guides the way we act in all our dealings with other people. It creates a school environment that promotes positive relationships, identifies common values and guidelines, develops social and emotional skills and understanding. It also promotes a sense of belonging.
It teaches students not only how to take responsibility for their academic progress but also their behaviour.
Lead tutor: Maxine Fox, Head of Pupil Development and Wellbeing at Sarum Academy, Salisbury
Additional tutors: Nicola Coker, Restorative Practice Development Manager, OPCC Wiltshire & Swindon
By the end of the session you will:
- have an understanding of the benefits of a restorative school environment, in which everyone feels listened to and valued, leading to a sense of shared responsibility.
- realise the positive impact in changing school cultures, especially regarding attendance and behaviour when prioritised as part of whole school improvement work and embedded in a wider restorative context.
