University of Bath public event to discuss youth vaping

Thursday 13th March 2025

Help shape the direction of research into vaping by sharing your thoughts and experiences of how youth vaping affects you and your community.

14 May 2025, 6.15pm to 8.15pm

Leonardo Hotel Swindon, Suite 4, Swindon, United Kingdom

This event is free

Join us for a public engagement event to help shape the direction of future research on youth vaping. This event is organised by the Addiction and Mental Health Group (AIM).

We want to hear from those directly affected by vaping - whether you're a young person, teacher, healthcare worker, parent, or part of a community group. Your insights will guide our research to better address the needs and concerns of the local community.

The event will involve small-group discussions, bringing together a diverse range of perspectives. Bath researchers will share their current work on youth vaping, and we’ll explore key topics that matter most to attendees.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people in Swindon, Wiltshire, and Bath & North East Somerset to understand the specific needs and experiences of our local communities. Your input will help shape research that is relevant and meaningful to the people it aims to support.

Further details can be found here

Spots for attendees are limited and will be confirmed via email.

To register your interest in attending, please email aimresearch@bath.ac.uk

In your email, please let us know where your interest in youth vaping comes from (e.g., if you are a young person you vape, teacher etc.).

We welcome anyone affected by vaping by young people (aged 12 to 25 years) to register their interest. This may be:

  • Young people with personal experience of vaping
  • School and university staff
  • Health professionals and clinicians
  • Youth and community group leaders
  • Charities focused on youth wellbeing
  • Parents of young people affected by vaping

We request that all attendees are over 18-years-old.

You will learn about the latest research being conducted at the University of Bath into youth vaping, and you will play an important role in setting our research priorities and agenda. We hope that the event will provide an interesting discussion on a topic that is important to you. You will also have the opportunity to get involved in future research and Public and Patient Involvement projects, if you wish to do so.

In addition to contributing to important research, attendees will receive support for travel costs. Young people with lived experience of vaping may also receive £50 for attending and sharing their experiences in small-group discussions - please enquire for further details.

Buffet food will be available on arrival and the venue offers free parking.
