Wiltshire And Swindon Prevent Conference 2023
Friday 7th July 2023
Wiltshire Council and Swindon Council are jointly holding a virtual Prevent Conference around the Risk of Radicalisation.
The event will introduce the process of radicalisation, how to recognise concerns, how to respond when these arise, how to effectively safeguard from radicalisation, how to access local support and insight into the Channel experience.
This virtual event will take place over two mornings in October.
- Session 1: Wednesday 4th October, 9.30am – 12.30pm
- Session 2: Thursday 5th October, 9.30am – 12.30pm
The first date is open to all professionals working with children and adults and will be looking at what Prevent is, how to make a referral, what is the Channel process and many other items. Speakers include those from Counter Terrorism Policing, Wiltshire Police and the Home Office, who will be discussing our emerging threat and local risk, Hate Crime overview, and Autism in the Channel space.
Although the second date is also open to everyone, there will be more of an educational focus with speakers from Counter Terrorism Policing, DfE, Ofsted and the Home Office. We will also be having some speakers from local school settings that have first-hand experience of Channel and to feed back their experience of the process.
