Wiltshire and Swindon Prevent Education Event

This event is for staff working in Wiltshire and Swindon education settings with young people, individually or in a group, who may become aware of signs of vulnerability to radicalisation.
The session will introduce the process of radicalisation, how to recognise possible concerns and how to respond when these arise, to effectively safeguard young people from radicalisation. It will also provide an understanding of Ofsted requirements in relation to Prevent, how to access local support and insight into the Channel experience.
Speakers will include:
- Wiltshire and Swindon Prevent and Channel Chairs
- Your local Counter Terrorism Policing South West representatives
- Prevent educational leads and Ofsted
Objectives:
- To know what radicalisation is and why it is important to discuss and address in relation to safeguarding.
- To understand how the Prevent strategy and Channel process can be used to support individuals, improve their health and well being outcomes and divert them away from potential harm.
- To recognise what makes people vulnerable to radicalisation
- To be aware of your responsibilities in relation to Prevent.
