YGAM (Young Gamers and Gamblers Education Trust)
Thursday 4th August 2022
YGAM (Young Gamers and Gamblers Education Trust) is a national, award-winning charity with a social purpose to inform, educate, and safeguard young people against gaming and gambling harms.
Did you know that?:
- 55,000 11-16-year-olds are problem gamblers (Gambling Commission, 2019).
- 96% of 11-24-year-olds have been exposed to gambling marketing messaging in the last month (University of Stirling/Ipsos Mori, 2020).
- 12 studies have shown a link between purchasing loot boxes in video games and problem gambling (Universities of Plymouth and Wolverhampton, 2021).
YGAM raises awareness of these issues by delivering free, City & Guilds-assured Gaming and Gambling Harms Prevention training to Teachers and Youth Workers and providing them with access to over 450 resources.
The workshop covers topics including:
- Mental Health and Wellbeing
- Gaming and Gambling Harms
- Marketing and Sponsorship
- Spotting Signs of Harm
- Where To Go for Help and Support
Upon completion of the training, participants receive a digital certificate from City & Guilds to evidence their CPD, as well as access to the free Resources Hub.
