Childrens Mental Health Awareness Week 2024: Wiltshire Competition

We’d like to inform you about Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week 2024, which will take place from the 5th of February to the 11th of February this year. This year’s theme is “My Voice Matters”, emphasizing the importance of empowering children to express themselves. 

As part of the awareness week, we are thrilled to announce a Wiltshire competition that will give local educational settings an opportunity to actively engage in the theme’s promotion. The “My Voice Matters” Competition aims to showcase the creative and thoughtful ways adults and young people can contribute to the conversation around children’s mental health by taking time to reflect on what matters to you.  

“My Voice Matters” Wiltshire Competition Outline 

Task:
For young people to creatively express “What Matters to Them”, considering what matters in daily life, and in a wider context including community, culture and global issues that may shape how we think about things that matter to us. 
This can be through any medium such as, but not limited to: visual arts, written expression, multimedia presentations and performance arts, but does need to be able to be sent across via email.

 Place2Be has a suggested template format for Primary and Secondary aged pupils which may help if you are stuck for ideas: e.g:
 
 Judging Criteria: 
There will be two separate categories based on age: 5-11 and 11-18. 
-Expressive Quality, Creativity and Originality 
-Relevance to Theme “What Matters to You”
-Overall Impact of the submission

Submission Requirements and Deadline: 
Please submit your responses to PHadmin@wiltshire.gov.uk by the 22nd February 2024
You must include the age category entered and the initial of the first name and surname of the young person (this will only be used for identifying winners within the competition).

Prizes: 
Winners will be announced on the 5th of March 
Winning Young People and educational settings will have a selection of books to choose from.
Entries will be showcased on the Wiltshire Healthy Schools website
